Copper trees, Glen Affric

Many photographer's web-sites set out to provide a vast number of links and virtually a complete reference library on everything photographic. Well this isn't like that at all. What I've tried to do is to provide links to a few organisations that I've worked with and admire, and tell you briefly why I enjoy working with them.
Speedgraphic
www.speedgraphic.co.uk
Some time ago, they didn't pick up the urgency of a telephone order I placed for film. When I rang up to chase - a little anxiously since I was off on a trip the next day - someone jumped in a car and drove the film 50 miles to my house. You'll never guess where I buy my film now.
Robert White
www.robertwhite.co.uk
These guys are just easy to deal with, very accessible, and very open. They do what they say they'll do, and that makes them a rarity in my book.
Bayeux
www.bayeux.co.uk
A new lab. in London, opened by guys that have done the majority of my printing for several years. They've taken the brave step of buying a LightJet and they're getting to be rather good with it. . Clean E6 too. Very reliable and nice people to work with.
West Coast Imaging
www.westcoastimaging.com
I've worked with WCI for a year or so now. They have produced what I regard as the best prints I've ever seen from my work, and have convinced me that the drum scan/LightJet print route is the way to get today's best quality colour prints. This is despite the fact that I've never met them and haven't ever spoken to them on the phone. We communicate via e-mail and proofs. Rich Seiling says that" the remote process works just great" and he's right.
Photo.net.
www.photo.net
I usually call in on this site daily when I'm at home. It's a bit of a gold-mine when you need to find something for yourself, but my real pleasure in it is that it makes it so easy to give a little help by contributing answers to other photographers'queries. Frankly I'm not a saint and I may not get round to helping others without an infrastructure like this that makes it so easy.
Phototrip USA
www.phototripusa.com
Laurent Martres operates this site with some good photography of western USA on a monthly rotating showcase, but also a lot of useful information and links. He was the only person I could find to tell me how to reach a great view over Lake Powell - even if it was a seriously rough drive to get there.
Trailfinders
www.trailfinder.com
Every photographer needs a good travel agent with a "can do" attitude and these people do it for me.
Ozscape Web Design
www.ozscape.com
When I decided to have this web site built I looked at a lot of photographic sites, thought about how I wanted the site and my images to look and wrote a brief. From the very first design proposals, Linda and Ralph Weissenberger demonstrated that they understood completely and could design creatively within the brief. I've had to spend no time bringing this project back to brief, and as a novice in this field I've been made to feel fully part of the team. I've enjoyed the process and learned a lot from them.
